Treats and goodies

Monday, May 24, 2010
This is my "Happy Birthday" banner. It is machine stitched, interfaced and backed. The letters are fused on, and the ribbons are run through eyelets set through the pennants. The banner is gender neutral and high quality and will last through every child's (and/or grandchild's) birthday for years to come. The words come separate to accommodate a smaller space, but can be tied together for one long banner. The finished pennants are approx. 10" high and 7" across. The end ribbons are approx. 3' long. The banners are $35.

This is my 4th of July table topper. It is made with Moda's Zippity Doo Dah fabric by Sandy Gervais. It is approx. 20" X 24" and is finished with a prairie point edge. The table topper is $20.

These are the totes I have finished and in stock right now. I will have a couple more in the coming weeks. They are all made with either home decorator weight fabric, or canvas and are fully lined with tons of pockets. The tote bags are $28 and the messenger style bags are $35. For pictures of what the interior pockets of the totes look like click to see pics.

More "Lemonade"

These table toppers/runners are made using Moda Fabric's
Acadia Line. They have rich oranges/aqua blue/ and a citrine yellow, grounded with a brown/grey. They are fun additions to your summer decor, or they would look great year round. Both toppers/runners are $35 each.

Rainbow Sherbet

Thursday, May 20, 2010
This table runner is full of summery goodness. The colors are bright and cheery. The runner measures approx. 16 X 32 inches. I quilted it in lines and when it's washed, which it will be soon, the rows will crinkle up nicely and it will look delicious on a table or bench. The back side is a fun melon color with dots on it. When I was sewing on the binding, I realized that it looked like a watermelon. What a happy accident- the runner is reversible!
This runner is for sale for $30. Let me know what you think.

Amy's Crafty "Lemonade Stand"

Wednesday, May 19, 2010
Summertime brings with it lots of fun and excitement. From carnivals, parades, swimming pools and parks to movies, games and outings with family. Something else summer brings is kids out on the corner selling everything from "Kool-aid" to "Otter pops" trying to make some extra money.
Well, I'm not selling lemonade, but I do have some things I would like to sell. So, instead of finding a boutique and trying to get rid of things all in one day, I thought I would try posting some on this blog and try to generate some income to go play with my kids this summer.
If you see something you like, please just leave a comment with your contact info, or e-mail me and we will work out the details.
If you see something you think someone else would like, please send them my way!
So, now that explanations are out of the way, here's the first item for sale:

This black and white table topper has darling scalloped edges. I love how you can use it as a backdrop for any color you would like, which works perfect for someone like me, who changes her mind about colors frequently! The topper is $20.

Black/White and Red Part 2

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

This is the second table topper in the Black/White/Red series. It has cleaner lines on the outside, but it has much more interest inside the borders with smaller squares. I quilted it along the lines, about 1/4 inch in from the seams. It gives it a really fresh/modern look.
This one actually went to my Second cousin for her bridal shower. She was so excited that it matched her kitchen. Thank goodness for bridal registrys and reading between the lines. Good luck with everything Blair, we love you!

We (heart) our teachers!

When I went to college, I was going to be a teacher. I signed up for the first education class and was all ready to go. The class was very involved. It required a lot of time and energy, and it was only worth one credit hour. Someone said it was so we could get used to being teachers, a lot of effort and not a lot of pay! I got about half-way through the semester and decided it was not for me! I withdrew from the class.

That experience taught me that it takes a special kind of person to dedicate themselves to our children for such minimal financial return. They teach because they love it, and they love the children. I respect them greatly, all the more because I know I am not one of those people! So in honor of Teacher Appreciation week I made these.

These are the gifts for the kids' teachers this year. I decorated the clipboards with paper and ribbon and then added some bags of school supplies/treats and added a card. They turned out really cute.

These are the fronts of the cards I made. I was trying to try some different flower techniques I had found online so they are a little busy (at least the purple one is) but I like how they turned out.

It didn't really take me this long to finish the frames, just this long to post it. I promised pics of the finished project and here they are. I really love how they turned out. I have always hesitated to make something with a specific color scheme for my room, I didn't want to be stuck with the colors if I changed my mind later, but these were so simple to make, even if we do change the colors, we can simply change the frames. They hang over the headboard of our bed. The next phase of this project is to cut some vinyl words to surround them. I'm thinking it will say "From here, to Eternity." (which are the words from "our song".) Or something equally cheesy but wonderful. ;)

What's black and white and red all over?

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

Part one of my 2 part black/white/ with a little red table topper series. I love the scalloped edges on this one and even though it's a little complicated, and I bought instead of made my own bias tape to bind the edges (still not brave enough to attempt that yet) I will for sure make scalloped edge toppers again.
