It's good to be missed

Monday, April 11, 2011
I learned a valuable lesson this weekend (one of many actually).  But one big lesson I learned is that it's good to be missed by your children.  And it's good to miss your children once in a while.
After 4 days of nothing but women, stories, laughter, advice that made my head spin, food and late nights, I came home to this sign.  And it was a good feeling.  At one point in the evening I had all four of my children snuggled up on my lap or tucked right under my arms, and it was bliss!
I'm learning that to keep that perspective- that being smothered by children is indeed wonderful- I need to step away on occasion, because when you're right in the middle of things for a while, you begin to lose the big picture.  Doing the dishes, washing laundry, changing diapers quickly become a chore, but regaining the understanding that they are all acts of love and service to my family, that show them how much I love and appreciate them flooded back to me after this weekend away.  I guess I need to do it more often. ;)
I'll be sharing bits and pieces of everything I learned this weekend in another post.  But for this mom-day, I wanted to keep it simple.
I missed my children.  And that was a good thing. :)

xoxo,
Amy

That's so sweet, Amy. I agree that it takes getting away from the day-to-day once in a while to really appreciate it. Glad you're back and can't wait to hear about Creative Estates :)

Isn't the best part of going away coming home again? I'm glad your kids missed you.
